CCI congratulates Jim Chartre on his recent milestone of 35 Years as a member with SCTE
(The Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers)
Jim Chartre has been an active and influential member of the SCTE since 1990, when he first attended a seminar hosted by the Badger State Chapter in Wisconsin. A year later, he delivered his first presentation on Addressable Interdiction design at the same chapter, marking the beginning of a long-standing commitment to technical education and industry advancement.
Over the years, Jim has presented at numerous SCTE chapters across the country, including the Lake Michigan, Piedmont, Grand Teton, and Badger State Chapters, as well as during SCTE live webinars held during the COVID-19 pandemic. His expertise has also been featured at major industry events such as the CableLabs Upgrade Design Strategies event (1995), the APPA Community Broadband Conference (2002), and the SPATIALinfo Users Conference (2011).
In 1997, Jim joined the SCTE Badger State Chapter Board, where he served for 25 years in various leadership roles including Vice President of Training, Vice President of Professional Development, President, and Secretary. His dedication was recognized in 2004 with the Chapter’s Commitment to Excellence award. During this time, he also authored four articles published in Communications Technology, SCTE’s official trade journal.
Jim is a certified proctor for SCTE exams and has contributed significantly to SCTE’s national certification programs. He chaired the working group that updated the BTS Exam and developed the BCSS Exam and also served on the team that revised the BDS Exam.
A two-time winner of the prestigious Lode Data “World’s Greatest Designer” competition, held at SCTE’s Cable-Tec Expo competition (2002 and 2003), Jim remains the only individual to have won the title twice. In 2015, he was honored as an SCTE Senior Member—an elite designation approved by the SCTE National Board of Directors. Out of 25,000 members worldwide, Jim was the 115th to receive this distinction and remains the only Senior Member to have spent an entire career working for a contractor.
In addition, Jim is celebrating his 37th work Anniversary with CCI Systems this month and we would like to congratulate Jim on all his well-deserved achievements!
